Ubong Nkutt Nominated Itu PDP Candidate ...As Edidem Applaud Umo Eno, PDP


The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Itu Local Government Area has nominated Mr Ubong Wilson Nkutt as its official candidate for the upcoming Akwa Ibom State Local Government elections. This followed an intense selection process which culminated with Nkutt's emergence on Saturday.




The nomination exercise held at Community Secondary Commercial School (COMSECOM), Ibiaku Itam witnessed a significant turnout of delegates as well as party stalwarts. Ubong Nkutt garnered 31 votes to be returned as the party's candidate in the Local Government and was subsequently announced by the returning officer; Prince AnietienteAbasi Isu who avered that having gotten 31 out of the total 33 votes, with 2 of the Ad-hoc delegates absent; Mr. Ubong Wilson Nkutt was announced winner of the contest and was duly ratified by the Chairman of Itu Local Government Primaries Organising Committee; Rt. Hon. Dr. Henry Archibong.




Mr. Nkutt in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to the people for the trust placed in him and outlined his commitment to advancing the party's ideals and addressing the concerns of the electorate. He emphasized unity, progressive policies, and inclusivity as key pillars of his agenda, adding that apart from serving Itu people, he will also contribute towards the implementation of the state's Arise Agenda.




The Ikot Uso Akpan Itam born politician said he is overwhelmed by the show of love and support by from stakeholders and members of PDP in Itu Local Government Area. He maintained that the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise in the state is a reflection of the good leadership offered by the Pastor Umo Eno led administration and pledged to help make Itu better and partner with the State government to bring more democratic dividends to the Local Government.




In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Secretary of the Itu Local Government Primaries Organising Committee; Rt. Hon. KufreAbasi Edidem, thanked and commended Governor Umo Eno and the leadership of the party in the state for deepening internal democracy and ensuring a peaceful and seamless process. 




He said the era of contentious and crisis plagued processes is now a thing of the past as only popular and deserving persson are fielded. He applauded stakeholders for making the right decision and thanked the Ad-hoc delegates for voting for a widely accepted candidate and congratulated Ubong Nkutt and his running mate on their emergence.




Meanwhile, as the PDP prepares for the upcoming election billed for October, Mr. Ubong Nkutt's nomination in Itu Local Government Area is seen as a strategic move aimed at consolidating the party's position and enhancing its appeal to a broader demographic. 



His endorsement as the PDP consensus aspirant and subsequent affirmation on Saturday reflects the party's confidence in his leadership abilities and vision for the future.




Furthermore, as members of PDP in Itu Local Government remain optimistic about their prospects under Mr. Ubong Nkutt's leadership, anticipating a vigorous campaign in the weeks ahead; Hon. Helen Nta has been selected as the Vice Chairmanship candidate for Itu Local Government Area. She is a former councilor who represented Ward 1 in the 6th Assembly of Itu Legislative Council and hails from Obot Itu, with the Itu/OMA geopolitical bloc. 




Others members of the Local Government Organising Committee sighted during the exercise include; Rt. Hon. Ekaette Ebong Okon, Barr. Etetim Onuk, Engr. Bassey Ekanem, Barr. Godwin Awah and Mr. Effiong Ebong. There were joined by other stakeholders including; Obonanwan Grace Ekong, Surv. James Iniama, Vice Chairman Itu Transition Committee; Hon. Emem Ekpanya, Secretary Itu Transition Committee; Mr. Emmanuel Ndon and Mrs. Inemesit Maxwell.
