A coalition of Nsit Ibom youth groups come together to endorse the incumbent Transition Chairman of Nsit Ibom Local Government Council; Deac. Otobong Aaron as their preferred candidate in the forthcoming Local Government elections.
The group which is an amalgamation of Nsit Ibom indigenous sociopolitical groups, professionals, artisans, students and religious organisations, made the declaration at a briefing on Friday in Afaha Ofiong

The group’s appreciation to the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State; Pastor Umo Eno, his administration and the leadership of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the state for their sterling strides recorded so far, also applauded their resolve to ensure that only deserving and popular candidates are selected to represent the party at all levels.
They noted that the few months of the present Transition Committee in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area had witnessed an unprecedented development in many sectors.

The group stated that not only has this made them proud as a people but has also reinforced their confidence in the present leadership, arguing that as they move closer to the critical processes that will culminate in the 2024 Akwa Ibom State Local Government Election, it has become imperative, not only to inform the general public of their determination to return Deac. Otobong Aaron as Executive Chairman of Nsit Ibom Local Government Council, but also to appreciate and appeal to other stakeholders and the leadership of the PDP in Nsit Ibom to support the return of Deac Aaron, as the party’s Chairmanship candidate for the 2024 Council Election.
”We want to say it loud and clear, that after considering so many things, we have seen Deac. Otobong Aaron, as the best option to continue as the Chairman of our dear Local Government Area.. Consequently, we call on all well-meaning citizen of Nsit Ibom to join us,” he said.
In conclusion the youth forum; said the meeting was convened to galvanize Nsit Ibom people to take control of their destiny, and join them in the ongoing restructuring, remodelling and rebuilding of the Local Government so that all citizens can journey towards their dreams with confidence and dignity, adding that the power and responsibility for social change lie in the hands of the people.
The group disclosed that with the group's aggressive media advocacy and grassroots campaigns, they intend to encourage participation in the electoral process, drive systemic changes in the community and local government administration, and engender inclusive socioeconomic development in line with the principles of democratic governance and social justice.
The group lauded Deac. Aaron led administration said the positive impact on key sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, sports and human capacity development is visible to all. They said it was “only natural” to support leaders who are committed to the economic advancement of the Local Government.
They enumerated the projects initiated by the Deac. Aaron led administration include; empowerment programme for over 200 persons, massive cultivation of crops, construction of the administrative block, Nsit Ibom Local Government Council, purchase and distribution of first aid box to health centres in Nsit Ibom, road grading exercise, payment of bursary to students, donation of patrol vehicle to Nsit Ibom Division of the Nigerian Police, empowerment of people living with disabilities, water project at Demonstration Primary School, Afaha Nsit, renovation and equipping of Primary Health Centre, Mbiaso v.
The projects also include; Sponsoring a free skill acquisition programme and award of fifty thousand naira grant to 80 beneficiaries, purchase of official vehicle for the Transition Council Secretary and the construction of a 2-bedroom flat for a widow who was rendered homeless after a destructive rainstorm.
