| Symbolic lifting of Otobong Aaron by Nsit Ibom Traditional Rulers after giving their blessing |
Ahead of the 2024 Akwa Ibom State Local Government election, a Chairmanship hopeful on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and incumbent Chairman of Nsit Ibom Local Government Transition Committee; Hon. Deac. Otobong Aaron on Friday received royal blessings from the traditional rulers of the entire Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.
Addressing the royal fathers, at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area; Otobong Aaron said her visit to the royal fathers was in response to their invitation and used the opportunity to formally inform them of her intentions to contest for the position of Executive Chairman, in the forthcoming Local Government elections. She explained that it became necessary to use the opportunity to formally disclose her plans the royal fathers of before proceeding to a formal open declaration.

She said royal fathers play a vital role in the security of lives, peace, progress and development of the land adding that her decision to honour their invitation was based on her belief firmly on the saying that charity begins at home. She said if elected to serve as Chairman for three years, there would be ample time to complete projects initiated so far and adequately implement her dreams for the people, adding that she has the requisite capacity and experience to make Nsit Ibom greater.
In his message, the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area;
HRM Manasseh Simeon Akpan (JP) who was represented by his Wife; Obonganwan Ofonime Manasseh Akpan described Hon. Aaron as one who has made them proud and deserves their blessings and support. He said the laudable strides she has recorded within such a short time is an indication of what she would do if given a longer time to serve the people, She stated that the traditional stool remain committed to encouraging and partnering with leaders with blueprints that would further transform the area. Hence their resolve to invite her to give their blessing.
Also Speaking, the Chairman Nsit Ibom Palace Council; Eteidung Udeme Isaac applauded her for being a good and respectable daughter and for honouring them and used the opportunity to particularly thank and commend Governor Umo Eno for encouraging equity through his support for zoning. He lauded her achievements so far, adding that if the Akwa Ibom State Governor can expressly commend her for doing so well within a short time, then the chiefs have no reason not to applaud and give their blessing and wished her well.
Similarly, the following village heads; Eteidung Anwangabasi Thomas and Eteidung Ezekiel Benson who spoke on behalf of all the other village heads in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, extolled her exemplary leadership style and positive impacts within the past six months arguing that it would be morally wrong if she is not given the opportunity to complete what she has started in the Local Government Area.
The highpoint of the consultative visit was the offering of royal blessings and the symbolic lifting and presentation of Hon. Otobong Aaron to the people by the traditional rulers who pledged the support of the traditional institution in the Local Government, while praying for success in her aspiration.
